Yuki Kawauchi to Pursue Running Full Time After Boston Marathon Win

Japan Running News reports Yuki Kawauchi announced on his return to Japan that he will resign from his day job to pursue running full time.

After arriving at Narita Airport, Boston Marathon winner Yuki Kawauchi announced that he will retire from his job at end of fiscal year.

Kawauchi won the Boston Marathon in some of the worst conditions the race has ever faced. He is most known for his frequent marathon racing, averaging about 12 per year for the past several years. He is scheduled to race a half marathon this weekend.

Kawauchi is not a professional runner. The money he makes as a runner comes from prize money. His day job is at a school in Japan.
